Ottawa school board fighting YouTube, Google to learn who kept posting video of upset autistic student


The lawyer argued the video belonged to the school board — given that it was shot on school property, using school board recording equipment and by a school board employee — and so infringed on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The parents have since expressed concerns to the school board about violations of the child’s privacy. In their court application, the school board said the video was both shot and disclosed without the student’s or his parent’s consent. The school board also cited privacy as its reason for acting. The school board also wants a copy of all documents relating to the origins of the messages created by the persons connected to those usernames.
