An Ottawa fertility doctor who was stripped of his Order of Canada now stands accused of using his own sperm to conceive a child for a couple who sought his services in the 1980s and was told decades later their child is not the husband’s biological daughter. The family booked a blood test, which revealed Rebecca has type O-positive and Daniel has type AB. Research says someone with AB blood is incapable of conceiving a child with O blood. RelatedRebecca made contact with a woman named Kat Palmer, whose parents also sought help conceiving a child through Dr. Norman Barwin, according to the lawsuit. Frances Shapiro Munn of Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP in Ottawa is representing the Dixon family and said she is seeking to have the lawsuit certified as a class-action.
