OTTAWA — The Ottawa Humane Society says a beagle in its care has a long road to recovery after police found it in the woods suffering from a gunshot wound. The humane society has been caring for the dog since last week, after officers found her wandering near Ottawa. “She was in critical condition when she came in,” said Sharon Miko, director of operations at Ottawa Humane Society. Miko says it’s possible that she might have to go through a second surgery depending on the outcome. Miko added it’s possible the dog was injured in a hunting accident.
