Every year we are told that Dublin have such an advantage in population and fiance that competition has been rendered impossible. Yet the last three times Mayo have played Dublin in the championship they have drawn once and lost twice by a point. Clearly, Mayo are competitive against Dublin. Why can’t other counties reach this standard? Outside Leinster, Galway have been punching below their weight since their last All-Ireland title in 2001.
