PETALING JAYA: The 16th Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR), to be held from Jan 8-13, is set to be bigger and better. The seven classes are Racing, IRC, IRC 2, Club Cruising, Multihull, Ocean Rover and White Sail. The teams will be competing for the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy (Racing class), the Commodore’s Challenge Cup (Club Cruising class), the LADA-IRC Challenge Trophy (IRC 1 class), RLIR-IRC2 Challenge Trophy (IRC 2 class) and the Malaysia Multihull Challenge Cup (Multihull class). Thailand’s THA72, skippered by Don Whitcraft, will be out to retain the Prime Minister’s Challenge Trophy. The Royal Langkawi Yacht Club general manager Tayfun Koksal was thrilled to see the participation of new and regular sailors in the regatta.
