Otaki to Levin highway plans back to drawing boardNicholas McBride/Fairfax NZ The State Highway 1 upgrade through Levin is being delayed to take into account growing traffic volumes. Increasing traffic and freight along State Highway 1 has forced a re-think over the planned road upgrade between Otaki and Levin. He said it would link well with the recent announcement of the $10.6 million safety improvements from Levin to Shannon on State Highway 57. Duffy said the state highway was critical to the district. The New Zealand Transport Agency announced this week that it would undertake more investigations into the Otaki to north of Levin project and its planned transport improvements.
