University of Otago senior teaching fellow Ali East was shocked when she learnt dance would be dropped from the School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences. A senior lecturer has been left shocked by the University of Otago’s decision to cut dance from its School of Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Sciences. As a result of consultation one technical staff FTE, which was proposed to be cut, was being kept. Retaining one or two papers was not enough and she was calling on vice-chancellor Prof Harlene Hayne to at least retain the minor degree in dance.
