Students at an Otago University residential college were told they had to pay for bed linen taken as evidence by police, and were instructed not to talk to media after a student reported an alleged rape in 2013. The sub-master called police, but was later disciplined by Knox College management for doing so without informing them first, the source claimed. In the same two-year period Auckland University, AUT University, Massey University and Lincoln University recorded seven cases of sexual harassment or assault between them.
