Otago University students told to 'pay for bed linen' after rape report

Students at an Otago University residential college were told they had to pay for bed linen taken as evidence by police, and were instructed not to talk to media after a student reported an alleged rape in 2013. The sub-master called police, but was later disciplined by Knox College management for doing so without informing them first, the source claimed. IAIN SUTHERLAND/SUPPLIED Knox College was founded by the Presbyterian Church in 1909. "The guy stayed in the hall for months making everyone feel unsafe," a student told the magazine. In the same two-year period Auckland University, AUT University, Massey University and Lincoln University recorded seven cases of sexual harassment or assault between them.
