Organs harvested from a brain-dead road accident victim by a team of doctors at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) in Tiruchi helped save lives on Thursday. With counseling and the consent of the bereaved family, arrangements were made to harvest the eyes, kidneys, liver, and skin tissue from the man as per the norms of Tamil Nadu Transplant Authority (TRANSTAN) by MGMGH. The eyes were transplanted to a beneficiary at the Tiruchi hospital as well. The other kidney was sent to the Thanjavur Government Medical College while the liver was sent to a patient at a private hospital in Perambalur. The skin tissue was sent to a private hospital in Madurai, said the release.
