Order to increase minimum age for EPF to Parliament


The order to increase the minimum age for contribution to the Employees Provident Fund from 14 to 16 years was considered in the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Labor in Parliament on Wednesday (03). It was agreed to submit the order to Parliament for approval in the future. The Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Labor met under the chairmanship of the Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Labor. This order is in line with the amendment to increase the minimum working age from 14 to 16, which was earlier introduced by the Minister of Labor in Parliament . The Minister instructed the relevant officials to develop the NVQ courses in a more systematic manner.
