Drone footage shows a pod of orca swimming in the ocean off the coast of Oakura, Taranaki. It turned out to be two separate pods of orca swimming about 500 metres off Oakura Beach, 15 kilometres south of New Plymouth. Last year he saw orca swimming on two different occasions in the same area. Sophie Hunger Sophie Hunger snapped this photo of a orca swimming near Paritutu Rock in New Plymouth on Thursday evening. The sea temperature off the Taranaki coast is about 17 degrees Celsius at the moment, and the monthly average temperature in December sits between 14C to 19C.
