Michael Bay just dropped the extended version of the Transformers: The Last Knight Super Bowl ad. This is indeed a slightly longer version of the spot that dropped on Friday morning, full of IMAX-friendly spectacle and the promise of a more ponderous and serious Transformers film. Will this be another bait-and-switch, or will Michael Bay's last Transformers film be something a bit more self-serious than the prior installments? Considering that Bay's Transformers films, warts and all, are unlike any other blockbuster franchise, I'm not sure I want them to go into pure grimdark mode. Paramount/Viacom Inc. is subtly planning this one as something of a season finale which leads into an expanded universe of Transformers films.
