The Tanzanian government spokesman has not responded to questions about Mr Magufuli’s health and whereabouts. The government fired some officials who questioned Mr Magufuli’s assertion that no people were falling ill from coronavirus in the country. Exiled opposition leader Lissu speculated on Twitter that Mr Magufuli had Covid-19 and had been flown to Kenya for treatment.
