Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa says it is problematic to invite the Myanmar Foreign Minister to the BIMSTEC Cabinet meeting in Sri Lanka. He pointed out that this confirms that the current Myanmar Government has been accepted by the Sri Lankan Government. The 17th BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting to be held in conjunction with the BIMSTEC Summit is scheduled to be held in Colombo on April 01. The Government of Myanmar has also been invited to attend, as all member countries are invited to attend. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it only invited all member countries to participate in the discussions aimed at concluding the paperwork on the BIMSTEC Summit.
