Share:ISLAMABAD - The opposition in Thursday’s National Assembly proceedings blocked government moving to put forward a motion regarding formation of electoral reforms body by expressing concerns over the text/content of the motion. The government was interested in moving a motion to constitute a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms to ensure ‘free and transparent polls’ in the country. On request of the opposition member, Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan had shared content of the motion with the opposition. Expressing their concern, opposition members Shazia Marri from PPP-P and Khurram Dastgir from PML-N proposed some amendments in the motion. Speaker National Assembly Asad Qasier was authorised to nominate members of the electoral reforms committee in consultation with Parliamentary leaders.
