Opinions skew on Clutha farmers obtaining a State forest

Invalided soldiers who arrived home by the Palooma were entertained at the Early Settlers' Hall, Dunedin by the Women's Patriotic Association. Farmers in the Clutha district were lately greatly interested in the efforts of the Clutha Farmers' Union to obtain a State forest somewhere in the Clutha district, but opinion seems to have veered somewhat. Speaking with several district farmers on Friday, a Balclutha Free Press representative gathered that they would appreciate more State assistance to individual planters. Having gained his third marine certificate, he was anxious to proceed with his studies, but, war having broken out, he left Dunedin with the 4th Batter, N.Z.F.A. He is at present on sick leave in Dunedin, but hopes to get away with a later reinforcement.
