(CNN) In 2013, the Supreme Court struck a devastating blow to voting rights with Shelby County v. Holder. RBG was right. She understood that the history of our democracy revealed the fragility of our commitment to protecting voting rights. In 2014, a flurry of voting rights restrictions were enacted in 15 states, many of them Republican strongholds. Some voting rights advocates are optimistic that pressure from the business community will successfully push back against these restrictions.
