Opinion: Potential upheaval and volatility in 2017JONATHAN ERNST Increased protectionist activity by President Trump's administration would have a flow on effect on New Zealand according the Canterbury Employers Chamber of commerce chief executive Peter Townsend. Opinion: As we launch into 2017 it is worth considering some of the issues that we will be contending with over the remainder of the calendar year. Although we are in an economically strong position both regionally and nationally, there are some factors that have the potential to cause significant upheaval and unexpected volatility in what will be a testing year. The compelling physical evidence of climate warming will accelerate acceptance of the need to seriously address this issue. We will likely be 75 per cent through the construction of the rebuild by the end of 2017.
