Opinion: Black WWII veterans and their families will not benefit from California’s reparations plan

Commentary Opinion: How does California right historic wrongs against the Black community? California established a task force without precedent in the nation in 2020 to study how slavery still affects Black Americans and what to do about it. This shut many Blacks (and other non-Whites) out of 20th century America’s most successful wealth-building housing program. These are not insurmountable challenges and many descendants of the reparations task force’s 19th-century designees will face some of the same issues. Wouldn’t that be the best, most equitable outcome for Black Californians and the state’s reparations task force?
