Operations at Trans mara Sugar co. after cane farmers refuse to supplyOperations at the Trans Mara Sugar company may be grounded after cane farmers resolved not to supply the raw material to the miller over reduced cane prices. The farmers have held a meeting with the company’s management and security chiefs from Trans Mara West sub-county but failed to agree. The hundreds of farmers told off the company’s Chief Executive Officer Mr Fredrick North Coombs who was categorical that farmers would now be paid Sh 3910 from Sh 4110 per tonne, effective from February 1, 2019, to end of March.
