At the way some people are made to feel for being who they are, for being different from "most of us". It would be so easy to focus overwhelmingly on that negativity, but fortunately there have been glimmers of real hope. There are some pretty closed minds, and just quietly some pretty closed hearts, in our society, and what we really need is completely the opposite. If you're gay or lesbian, you matter, if you're transgender or non-binary, you matter, if you're Muslim, you matter, if you're an atheist, you matter, if you're disabled, you matter, if you're a person of colour, you matter, if you're Christian, you matter, if you're a veteran, you matter. Open minds are needed for open hearts, open hearts and generous, supportive spirits are what we need to be the society we truly can be.
