Rajasthan’s Jitendra Singh Rathore wasn’t fully fit, but was in high spirits. The 29-year-old, working as an Havildar in the Army Sports Institute (Pune) won the men’s 50Km gold in the Open National racewalk championship here on Sunday, in a time of 4 hours 23 minutes and 23 seconds. In the absence of tough competition, Jitendra enjoyed a comfortable lead for the major part of the race. His personal best came in the Open Nationals last year (3:58.55.82) in Delhi where he had finished second behind Sandeep Kumar, the reigning National record holder.
