The monarch spoke at the African Royal Young Leadership Forum award held at the Oduduwa Hall, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, which is an initiative of the Ooni and aimed at celebrating successful young men and women and provide a platform for a new set of leaders across the country. xStella Okotete, the Executive Director, Business Development of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), the late pilot Arotile, the first-ever female combat helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force, social media expert, Japheth Omojuwa, and Lanre Olagunju, a fact-check researcher and Head of Communications of Project Enable Africa, topped the list of 100 outstanding awardees in the 2021 Royal African Young Leadership Awards. According to the Ooni of Ife, “Africa needs its finest and ever dedicated young demography that is rich in creative culture, governance and leadership, innovation and technology, entrepreneurship and academic excellence.”Olagunju was recognized for the outstanding contribution as a development journalist and a leading change agent combating fake news and misinformation with several of his outstanding fact-check research. Olagunju is a media and communication enthusiast with over eight years of experience. His media career spans development communication, fact-checking, political communications, and the art of storytelling for social good.
