Ontario reports 9,418 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Public Health Ontario reported another five deaths related to COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the provincial death toll to 10,162. Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the province due to the highly contagious Omicron variant of the novel coronavirus. “Due to changes in testing availability, driven by increasing COVID-19 cases related to the Omicron variant, the number of cases in our current data reports is an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19 in Ontario,” Public Health Ontario listed in the Daily Epidemiological Summary. The COVID-19 data will be limited during the holiday season as the Ministry of Health will not update its website until December 29.
