The CEO of Ontario's St. Joseph's Health System and Niagara Health vacationed in the Caribbean over the holidays despite government advisories to stay home as the number of COVID-19 cases soared across the province. "As a health system leader, my actions in no way reflect the tireless dedication and commitment of the staff at St. Joseph's Health System, who continue to live the legacy of our organization every day." St. Joseph's Health System includes six health facilities in southwestern Ontario, including St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener, St. Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph, St. Joseph's Home Care, St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre in Brantford and St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas. Patrick Moore, the senior public affairs specialist at St. Joseph's Health System, told CBC News via email that Stewart was on approved vacation from Friday, Dec. 18 until Tuesday. St. Joseph's Villa in Dundas has had a COVID-19 outbreak since Nov. 20, which has has seen 55 infections and eight deaths.
