Ontario doctors groups slam survey on privatization

Dr. Mark D’Souza, chair of District 11, which encompasses Toronto, emailed the survey to the city’s 12,000 doctors — half of them specialists — on May 23. D’Souza said District 11 will provide the OMA’s negotiations committee with three to five priorities, based on the survey results. The survey was subsequently reactivated with critics alleging doctors had sought an opportunity to give their views on privatization. The survey concluded on May 29 and there is no indication if or when Toronto doctors will be told the results. In a written statement, Whatley said the survey was sent out by District 11 and is not the OMA’s to comment upon.
