Despite refuting Mr Nomm's claims about his character, Mr Dotcom said he could understand his actions and sympathised with the IT worker's frustration. Mr Dotcom also tweeted a similar message on social media, saying he dipped into his own pockets to send ?20,000 ($31,434) to Mr van der Kolk's parents for Mr Nomm. Mr Nomm believed he should never have been charged. The next hearing is in the High Court at Auckland in August and Mr Dotcom told the Herald he was confident it would go well. Mr Nomm said everybody except co-accused Bram van der Kolk appeared to desert him during his hour of need.
