With that in mind, let us consider the respective claims of the Catalans and Kurds, henceforth denoted as Cats and Kurds. At first glance, they seem inherently worthy of their aspirations, the Cats and Kurds. Almost liturgically one can cite the arguments in favor: hardworking, internally stable, centuries of yearning, majority want it, inhumane not to. Sadly though with both Cats and Kurds the strategic counter-considerations are weighty, perhaps even decisive. One can imagine how the Kurdish referendum leveraged Putin's hand, and Erdogan's domestic policy, during the summit.
