Online petition started for royal commission of public inquiry into tahfiz schools

KOTA KINABALU: An online petition for a royal commission of public inquiry into tahfiz schools has been initiated following the pre-dawn fire tragedy at Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school. It says the petition called for Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V and the government to form a royal commission for public inquiry into matters pertaining to the establishment of tahfiz schools. This includes the schools’ “licensing, management and operations and (to) hold accountable every person culpable for the deaths of the above human beings”. Feisal, in his petition application, also listed down names of those killed in the fire, stating the royal commission of inquiry was “to honour those names listed above, and prevent the addition of more names to the list”. Feisal was believed to have started the petition about 9am today.
