It’s impossible to police online content in the digital age. What is a good thing for the instantaneous and free flow of information is also a risk for children. Google has now belatedly closed off one potential danger by banning apps that appeal to children but contain adult themes. That is a welcome step but Google and other technology companies need to be far more assertive in requiring app developers to abide by the rules on protecting children from inappropriate content.
