That doesn't mean benchmark scores are just a number, though. XDA says when it found the scores of OnePlus 3T to be fishy it monitored the phone while running the benchmark app. So all this means benchmark scores can be boosted at will. OnePlus 3T is an amazing phone and that is not because of its benchmark score. Benchmark scores are anyways not a part of a smartphone's certification process and might very easily end up becoming a gimmick that you can fall prey to.
