A person died in the crash on Bank St in Kaitaia, a main thoroughfare (File image). Branches are blocking the road where a person died after their car hit a tree in the Far North town of Kaitaia on Sunday. The sole occupant of the car died at the scene. A police spokesperson said a few branches from the tree had fallen and were blocking the road. The police's Serious Crash Unit was at the scene and the cause of the crash was being investigated.
