New Delhi: Without naming anyone, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that "one or two countries" are obstructing reforms at the United Nations and want to "freeze one moment of history for perpetual gain to continue". The comments come even as India has appealed the international community for urgent reforms at the world body to reflect current geopolitical realities. The UN this year marks 75th anniversary of it coming into being in the aftermath of World War 2. On reforms at the UN and United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Intergovernmental Negotiations are underway but these are informal and even United Nations General Assembly rules don't apply to it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken at United Nations General assembly, SCO, BRICS meeting for urgent reforms and India's candidature at the United Nations Security Council.
