Scolari told reporters of Newhart, “It was great to be in this category with him, really — there was a calming effect because somebody who has been so meaningful in my life, such a mentor to me, if he would have won another one tonight I would have been fine with that.”Scolari’s long-running arc on “Girls” recently saw his character come out as gay, and the revelation was a focus of several episodes last season.
