Research by The Corporate Finance Network of accountants claimed 18% of clients were unlikely to get the cash they need to survive four weeks of lockdown. The shortage of cash could see nearly four million staff lose their jobs in May, the Network claimed. And as many as 42% of small firms could go bust if the lockdown lasts for four months or more. SNP finance spokeswoman Alison Thewliss said: "It is absolutely crucial that businesses across Scotland and the UK can access the finance they need now. The Corporate Finance Network believes as many as 250,000 small businesses will need to join forces and merge to survive and protect jobs.
