SUNGAI PETANI: Two mat rempit who tried to beat a traffic light during an illegal race here met with an accident which left one of them dead and the other seriously injured early this morning. Ahmad Amirul Shuhaimi, 21 and Muhammad Khairul Azrien Sazili, 18, crashed their motorcycles into a Perodua Kembara SUV while speeding past a red light at the Lagenda Height traffic light junction at 4.20am. Saifi said police are investigating the case under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1087 for reckless driving. Meanwhile, Amirul’s brother, Muhammad Akmal Shuhaimi, 17, said he was standing near the junction when the accident occurred. I rushed to his side, but he was not responding when I called his name,” he said when met at the hospital mortuary.
