The pig quarantine in Frederick follows by a few days the quarantine imposed on swine at Charles County’s fair. Five cases of flu were detected in pigs that were recently exhibited there, the state health department said. In addition, the Charles County Health Department said the virus had been found in seven Maryland residents who had close contact with pigs at the fair. The state health department said swine exhibits at other county fairs in Southern Maryland were canceled.
