Two people have suffered serious injuries after a two-car collision on Kennedy Rd at about 3am this morning. St John Heretaunga territory manager Brendon Hutchinson said one man was cut from the car by the fire service after it knocked over a street pole and collided with a tree. Sergeant Nigel Hurley said the car was travelling southbound when it was clipped by another car causing the woman driver to lose control. Mr Hutchinson said the man was the only passenger and both the man and woman were transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed until about 7am this morning between Riverbend Rd and Wycliffe St while the serious crash unit conducted a scene examination.
