Nazrul Islam Gain, 45, was killed near Baliapur Beel in the Shobhnali union, under the Ashashuni upazila, on Wednesday morning, confirmed Ashashuni police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Biplob Kumar Nath. "On Tuesday night, Monaem brought a gang of 45 supporters wielding locally made weapons, to claim the land from Nazrul," Kayuum said. A clash ensued, during which Monaem, finding Nazrul alone, hacked him with a chopper. When contacted, UP Chairman Monaem Hossain Sana denied his involvement in the incident.
