One in five second-level students has used the artificial intelligence software, ChatGPT, for school-related tasks such as writing essays or creating computer coding, according to a new survey. More than 1,000 first year to sixth years students, from all 26 counties, responded to the latest survey by Studyclix.ie study website. The main findings include:*83pc of students worry they use their phones too much,*38pc use smartphones for over four hours a day, while 16pc use their phones for over six hours*64pc of students are very concerned about the cost-of-living*22pc of students have used ChatGPT for schoolwork. The bot generates unique and convincing text or images in response to prompts and the Studyclix findings bear out worries that it may be used inappropriately by students. Commenting on the main findings, Studyclix founder Luke Saunders said he was surprised to see that more than one in five students had already used ChatGPT during the course of their schoolwork.
