Nearly one in five Americans say they have lost either a relative or a close friend to the coronavirus, highlighting the division between heartache and hope as the country itches to get back to normal. Black and Hispanic Americans were twice as likely to say a family member or friend had passed away over the course of the pandemic. What's more, 24 percent of people who say they make $30,000 or less per year say a loved one has died from COVID-19 compared to 17 percent of those those making more than $30,000 annually. Additionally, 80 percent of Democrats say the are somewhat concerned of contracting COVID-19 compared to 53 percent of Republicans. The poll found Americans still fear contracting COVID-19, but that worry has dropped over the past few months.
