One person is seriously injured after a plane crash at Welshman's Creek, northeast of Middlemarch, today. The plane was found after crews in two helicopters searched this afternoon for a light aircraft that left the Taieri airfield for Omarama this morning, but did not arrive. Rescue Co-ordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) spokesman Vince Cholewa said the privately-owned single engine light plane with two people on board left Taieri at 10.30am. The helicopters had flown the planned flight path to see whether they could locate the plane. He said the area where the plane went down was ``rolling, heavily undulating hills''.
