One person was injured after a fire burned through the ceiling of a home in Saddle Hill near Dunedin last night. The spokeswoman said one occupant in the house was thought to have inhaled smoke and was taken to Dunedin Hospital. The cause of the fire was unknown, but was not suspicious, and fire appliances began to leave the scene about 11pm. There was substantial damage in the ceiling, however the house was not completely written off because of its size, the spokeswoman said. A St John spokesman said one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
