The accident took place around 6:30am on Friday in Dholatengor area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, said Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station OC Md Asabur Rahman. The collision left the truck driver's assistant dead on the spot. The 20 injured, most of them passengers of the bus, were rescued and sent to Tangail Medical College Hospital. The accident caused a 14-kilometre-long gridlock on the highway from Elenga to Bangabandhu Bridge on the east bank. Traffic returned to normal around 9:30am after the two damaged vehicles were moved from the road, OC Asabur Rahman said.
