One dead on ocean race at Mount MaunganuiROSALIE CRAWFORD/SUNLIVE News website Sunlive got reports of an incident at Mount Maunganui's Main Beach. A swimmer taking part in an ocean race at Mt Maunganui has died. The Auckland man, aged in his 60s, went missing near Moturiki (Leisure) Island while competing in the Sand to Surf Ocean swim race, Sunlive reported. Two ambulance vehicles were sent to the scene in the Tauranga suburb, St John ambulance said. He was brought ashore and CPR was carried out by St John Ambulance and lifeguards.
