Police were examining the scene of the single vehicle fatal crash in Mount Maunganui on Sunday night. A person has died in a single vehicle crash in Mount Maunganui. The crash, in the area of the Sandhurst Drive on-ramp for State Highway 2 around 5pm Sunday, caused moderate to serious injuries for two passengers, police said. A further four people were medically checked at the scene but were not seriously injured, police said. The road is now open to traffic following a scene examination and the recovery of the vehicle.
