A 34-year-old Pickering man is dead after the SUV he was driving rolled on the westbound Highway 401 on Tuesday evening. Kerry Schmidt said police were called to the crash site, just east of Liverpool Rd., at about 7:30 p.m. A passenger was rushed to hospital with critical injuries, but he has since been stabilized. “It looks like the driver was ejected from his vehicle,” Schmidt said about the crash Tuesday night. Investigators are still looking into how it played out, he added — specifically, whether seatbelts were being worn. The driver won’t be identified by the OPP until his family has been notified.
