One person is dead and a man is in custody following a two-car collision in Markham on Tuesday night. Laura Nicolle said the collision happened at around 7:30 p.m. near Elgin Mills Road East and Ninth Lane. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and one man has been arrested for impaired driving, police say. Because of an “interaction between York Regional Police and the suspect vehicle,” the SIU has been contacted. “The investigation is ongoing and officers are looking to speak to anyone with information on the collision, or dash cam footage,” Nicolle said in a video from York Police following the collision.
