NewsOne person died and five others, including one-and-a-half year old child were rescued and hospitalized after a boat overturned on the Jaffna lagoon yesterday. Police Media Unit said that the boat had overturned at about 4.15pm yesterday near Pannai Bridge. Police, navy personnel and area residents had then managed to rescue and adult male who was piloting the boat, four adult females and the child from the water. They were admitted to the Jaffna Hospital where the male later died. Police said the occupants of the boat had been on their way to a church when the incident occurred.
