According to a top police official, the dead railway employee was a coach attendant on board. While the coach attendant died on the spot, the TTE and two others sustained serious injuries. Belagavi Police Commissioner Lada Martin Marbaniang said the passenger entered into an argument when the TTE asked him for the ticket and suddenly began assaulting him. When the coach attendant intervened to stop the assault on the TTE, the passenger stabbed him to death and went on a stabbing spree injuring the TTE and two others on board, said Lada Martin. The injured were rushed to a hospital in Belagavi where Lada Martin met them on Thursday night.
